The Canyon
|
Slate Canyon's FutureSlate Canyon Park is 63.9 acre. The concept plan has been divided into four different sites, A, B, C and D, that each area will be developed at different times.
Site A is divided further into the upper and lower areas. Upper Site A of the Slate Canyon Park master plan is nearing completion. Construction began last fall and is scheduled to be completed by the end of May this year. Improvements include: a paved access road, lighting, a restroom, improved trails and access to the Bonneville Shoreline Trail (BST), a pavilion, new asphalt overlay and striping in the parking areas and picnic sites. Access to this portion of the BST will be limited due to the active constriction activities. For safety, please be careful to avoid the construction area during until it is complete. The lower Site A will have a parking lot, two small pavilions, one large pavilion, restrooms, playground, amphitheater, several picnic sites all connected by a variety of walking and biking trails. Site B will have four small pavilions, restrooms, open turf grass play areas, tennis courts and a disc golf course. The City recently acquired an additional 24 acres that will be added to this site. This exciting acquisition has opened up a lot of possibilities and the plans are now being reassessed. Site C will be a traditional style neighborhood park similar to Site A lower. It will have a parking lot, two small pavilions, restrooms, playground and several picnic sites connected by walking trails and beautiful landscaping. Site D will have parking lot, a small pavilion, restrooms and a few picnic sites connected by a mountain bike BMX skills curse. This area will retain its natural landscaping. |
